Stabbing Attack: Saif Ali Khan Breaks Silence On Why Taimur Took Him To Hospital, & Not Wife Kareena Kapoor

New Delhi: Last month’s attack on actor Saif Ali Khan during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence sent shockwaves across the country.

But among several questions was why the injured actor travelled to the Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw at around 2.30 am, that too, accompanied by his eight-year-old son Taimur.

In a conversation with The Times of India, Saif finally broke his silence on the scary incident and how it all panned out.

“He (Taimur) was absolutely composed. He was fine. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ I was getting a lot of comfort just from looking at him at that time. And I didn’t want to go alone. My wife sent him knowing what he would do for me. Maybe it wasn’t… at the moment, it was the right thing to do. I felt good about it. And I also thought, if God forbid, something happens, I’d like for him to be there. And he wanted to be there also,” said Saif.

He further shared that while Taimur accompanied him to the hospital, Kareena took their younger son Jeh to sister Karisma Kapoor’s residence.

Saif was stabbed multiple times in the back and neck by an intruder in the early hours of January 16.

The actor underwent a six-hour long surgery, which included the removal of a three-inch blade lodged dangerously close to his spine.

Recollecting the harrowing incident, Saif revealed that he and Kareena were asleep in their bedroom when at around 2 am they were woken up by the screams of their house help.

“Something took over me,” Saif recalled, describing how he rushed to confront the intruder.

However, the intruder, who was armed with sharp knives, stabbed the actor in retaliation.

“I couldn’t handle it after a while as there were two knives in action. I was praying that someone could get this guy off me at this point,” he shared.

Soon, his house help Geeta interfered and managed to pull away the attacker from Saif.

The actor somehow managed to lock the intruder inside Jeh’s room, but he managed to escape through the drainpipe in the kids’ bathroom.

When Saif reached the hospital, doctors informed him that a four-inch blade had penetrated dangerously close to his spinal cord.

“That’s how close it came – just one more millimetre, and we’d be talking paralysis,” he said.

The Mumbai police arrested a Bangladeshi national in connection with the case and an investigation is currently underway.
