Sambalpur: Sambalpur University has completed the preparation to hoist a National Flag measuring 100 feet in length on its premises on the occasion of Republic Day on Wednesday.
According to sources, the university authorities in association with a private college of Rourkela in Sundargarh district have constructed a cement platform to erect a 100-ft permanent pole to hoist the massive Tricolour.
Hoisting the rare National Flag on the occasion of Republic Day has been taken up with a cost of Rs 9.5 lakh, the sources said.
“It’s a rare achievement for the University. Preparations are almost completed for hoisting the Tricolour and the final touches will be completed by evening. It will be a moment of glory for all of us,” a local TV channel quoted Sambalpur University vice-chancellor Dr Sanjiv Mittal as saying.
