New Delhi: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and their film, ’83’ received huge applause and a standing ovation from the audience at the grand premiere of the film at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, India Today reported.
The star couple joined Kapil Dev and his wife, Romi at the event. A video of the premiere was shared on Twitter. Ranveer can be seen bowing down and thanking everyone for the appreciation.
The film is based on the Indian cricket team’s 1983 World Cup win and is directed by Kabir Khan. Ranveer Singh essays the role of Kapil Dev in the film, who was the captain of the Indian cricket team when it won the 1983 World Cup, while Deepika Padukone plays the role of his wife, Romi. ’83’ also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk and Pankaj Tripathi, among others.
’83’ is produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films, Reliance Entertainment. The film will release in 3D on December 24 in five languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
