New Delhi: The Central government may let states and Union Territories (UTs) to decide on the restrictions in their respective territories after Lockdown 4.0 ends on May 31.
Also, the states may not depend on the Union Home Ministry guidelines to reopen shopping malls and resume dine-in services.
“The assessment at the Centre is that the state governments can now take a better call based on the ground realities. How long can the Centre keep monitoring everything,” TOI quoted an unnamed official as saying.
However, the Centre will continue to issue directives and bar activities like opening of educational institutions and resumption of international flights among others to manage the COVID-19 situation. Besides, it will also review the lockdown measures every fortnight.
In its last nationwide guidelines on May 17, the home ministry had left many decisions on easing curbs to the state governments.
