STF Rescues Pangolin In Odisha’s Cuttack, One Arrested
Cuttack: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch has rescued a pangolin, an endangered species, and arrested one persons in this connection in the district.
Acting on reliable information, the STF team conducted raid on the house of Keshab Sahoo of Abhimanpur village and rescued the pangolin. They also seized incriminating materials from his possession. Further investigation is on.
The team will hand over the rescued pangolin to DFO-cum-Wildlife Warden of Athgarh forest division.
All pangolin species are protected under national and international laws and two species are listed as critically endangered on the IUCN ‘Red List’ of threatened species.
In India, pangolin is a Schedule I protected animal under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
