Bhubaneswar: Prompt action and timely treatment at the Veterinary Clinical Complex of the Institute of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (IVSAH) of SOA Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar saved the life of a calf which had become the vic
tim of a hit-and-run accident in the city on the Raja Sankranti day.
The calf, which was resting on the roadside, was hit by a car which sped away after the accident leaving the animal with injuries and lot of pain. The animal continued to bellow seeking relief till local residents rushed to its help. Someone contacted the Veterinary Clinical Complex which promptly sent an ambulance to ferry the calf to the centre for treatment.
After being administered timely and proper treatment, the animal started to recover and accepted food and water, said Niranjan Sahu, Medical Superintendent of the centre who supervised the treatment.
“Many such stray animals who become victims of such hit and run accidents are being brought to the Veterinary Clinical Complex regularly for treatment and are recovering well,” he said.
Most of such mishaps are repeatedly caused by reckless drivers.
