Frustrated with online classes and homework, Khushi, a 12-year-old schoolgirl committed suicide in Gujarat’s Rajkot. Her father, who has incurred a huge loss in business during the lockdown, had recently bought her a smartphone for the online classes after collecting Rs 10,000 from here and there.
Ahmedabad Mirror reported that on Monday morning, when her mother asked her to finish her homework, Khushi made an excuse and went inside her room. After some time, her mother went to look for her, she found her hanging from the ceiling fan.
Khushi, who also has a younger brother, had recently got admission in a Gujarati-medium school. She was promoted to Class 8 in the mass promotion drive during the lockdown.
Her father Rohit Shingadia, runs an auto garage near their house. The family hasn’t been able to pay their electricity bills, said a relative.
