Strict Action Against OMFED Stalls Selling Paan & Gutkha In Odisha Capital Ahead Of Hockey World Cup Trophy Arrival
Bhubaneswar: Ahead of FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup Trophy’s arrival in Odisha capital on December 25, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to take stringent action against OMFED stalls in the city if they are found selling paan or gutkha.
As the trophy will be received in a grand way at the airport when it arrives in Bhubaneswar after a tour of different places and then taken to different places in the city for the people to have a glimpse, the streets must look neat and clean.
According to reports, BMC has decided to strictly enforce ban on the sale of paan and gutkha in OMFED kiosks. The aim is to ensure that the state capital gets a new look ahead of the mega international hockey event beginning on January 13.
BMC Commissioner Vijay Amrit Kulange has reportedly warned that the civic body will come down heavily on OMFED stalls illegally selling these products
This apart, the civic body has asked the shops to maintain hygiene and ensure that area up to five metres from each stall is kept clean.
The shops have also been asked to segregate the garbage and waste. They should keep dry and wet garbage separately and a fine of Rs 5000 will be imposed for failure to follow the rule.
Besides imposing penalty on those flouting the rules, shops may also be sealed in case of gross violation, they added.
