Student Of Bhubaneswar’s Utkal University Dies After ‘Falling’ From Hostel Roof

Bhubaneswar: A student of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar died after allegedly falling from a hostel roof on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Tapas Ranjan Nayak, a student of the second-year MA in Philosophy. He was staying at Madhusudan Hostel of the varsity. He was resident of Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district and only son of his parents.

On being informed, police arrived at the scene and recovered the body, which was later sent to the Capital Hospital here for postmortem.

His untimely death has left everyone shocked at the varsity. Hostel mates told the media that they had a normal conversation with Tapas last night and he was in good spirits. He had also participated in the ongoing Utkal University premier league on Saturday.

Police have begun an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to his death.

Meanwhile, the university authorities have informed Tapas’s parents. They, however, are yet filed a complaint with the local police regarding the incident.
