Sambalpur: A B Com final-year student of Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) in Odisha’s Sambalpur has allegedly died by suicide.
The boarder of the Trust Fund hostel of the university, identified as Ghanashyam Karuan from Narla in Kalahandi, was found hanging in his room on Thursday.
According to sources, he came back to his room after appearing for the mid-semester examination. His roommate then went to appear for the examination in the second sitting and on returning, found the door locked from inside. When Ghanashyam did not open the door after repeated knocking, his roommate informed the hostel warden, who informed police.
Police opened the door and found the student hanging in the room.
It is being suspected that Ghanashyam ended his life after failing to do well in the exams. A purported suicide note was recovered from his room in which he mentioned about repeated poor performance in exams.
Police investigation is underway.
