Bhubaneswar: The Naba Nirman Yuva Chhatra Sangathan (NYCS), a student’s organisation, has called for a 12-hour strike across Odisha on September 30 (Tuesday), demanding the resignation of School and Mass Education minister, Nityananda Gond. The outfit has alleged factual errors in the school textbooks and has therefore called for the bandh.
According to the outfit, the books published by the State School and Mass Education Department have over 1,600 errors. They have alleged that the lapses are beyond printing mistakes.
The student’s outfit has demanded the withdrawal of such books with errors, according to reports. The Odisha State Committee of the CPI(M) has lent its support to the bandh. The organisers of the protest have alleged that political parties, students, teachers and intellectuals had demanded the corrections but the government had failed to implement it.
