Stunt Goes Wrong: 54-Year-Old Dies On Vijay Sethupathi’s Film Set
Chennai: A stunt went horribly wrong on the sets of Tamil film ‘Viduthalai’, killing experienced stuntman S Suresh.
The Vetri Maaran-directed film, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, is being shot in two parts. On Saturday, the experienced Suresh fell to his death from 20 feet while performing a stunt.
The 54-year-old Suresh, who had been in this profession for more than three decades, is survived by his wife and two children.
According to a report in The Times of India, the situation compelled Suresh to jump and run atop collapsing railway compartments on a makeshift bridge while he was bound to a rope hooked to a crane.
As the rope snapped, Suresh plunged 20 feet to the ground. He was rushed to a Chennai hospital, but doctors failed to save his life.
This is not the first such mishap on a film set.
In 2020, three technicians were crushed to death on the sets of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ after a crane fell on them. Shooting for the much-anticipated movie resumed after a gap of two years, in September 2022.
