Lucknow: Imagine a woman contacting her husband working abroad over a video call, and the latter ending his life. And if the woman happens to be newly married, the tragedy is even deeper.
A 24-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar allegedly killed himself in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh while he was on a video call with his wife in India on October 26.
Mohammad Ansari allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his Riyadh home following a heated argument with his wife, 21-year-old Sonia.
The woman immediately informed her relatives living in Saudi Arabia, who rushed to Ansari’s place only to find his lifeless body, PTI reported.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has been informed, and necessary documentation is being processed and efforts are underway to bring Ansari’s body back to Muzaffarnagar for burial.
According to police, the couple had got married in April this year, and the husband travelled to Riyadh in August after getting a job there.
Investigation is underway in Riyadh and Muzaffarnagar. Police in UP are exploring all possible angles, including the reason for the couple’s heated argument.
