Hyderabad/New Delhi: AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned a recently surfaced video of the Red Fort blast suspect Dr Umar Un Nabi, calling his justification of suicide bombing as “martyrdom” unjustifiable. “Suicide is haram in Islam and the killing of innocents is a grave sin,” Owaisi said, asserting that what happened near the Red Fort is “terrorism and nothing else.”
Owaisi was reacting to an undated, self-recorded video retrieved by investigators from Nabi’s phone, in which the accused describes his actions as part of a “martyrdom operation” and claims that suicide bombing is a deeply misunderstood concept. He rejected those justifications outright, saying such acts are not only morally wrong but also illegal under Indian law.
In the same statement, Owaisi took aim at Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning his government’s intelligence and counter-terror efforts. He referred to Shah’s earlier remarks during Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, when Shah had claimed that “no local Kashmiri had joined a terror outfit in the last six months.” Owaisi demanded to know, “Where did this group come from then? Who is accountable for the failure to detect this group?”
Investigations into the Delhi car blast continue. Security agencies recovered an 80-second video from Nabi’s mobile phone, in which he defends the concept of martyrdom-based suicide attacks. According to investigators, Nabi — a doctor by profession — was part of what they describe as a “white-collar terror module” allegedly linked to extremist networks.
The YouTube-style footage, recorded in English, shows Nabi speaking from a room, offering ideological justifications for the attack. Authorities now appear to be examining not just the act of violence, but how radicalization may have played a role in radicalizing educated professionals.
The government has responded firmly. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has vowed “strictest possible punishment” for all involved in the blast, calling the attack a grave threat and promising to hunt down conspirators “even from the depths of the netherworld.”
