Bhubaneswar: Sundargarh and Deoghar qualified for the final of the Odisha State Junior Men’s Hockey championship with hard-fought wins on Thursday.
Sundargarh edged past Sambalpur 2-1 in the first semifinal. Deogarh then overcame KIIT 3-1.
In the quarterfinals a day earlier, Sundargarh ousted SMS Hockey Academy 5-2, Deogarh beat Dhenkanal 2-0, Sambalpur saw off Angul 3-0 and KIIT pipped Jharsuguda 4-3.
In the senior state championship which preceded the junior meet, East Coast Railway emerged champions beating Khurda 1-0.
