Sunmeera was in Class IX when she got a chance to play the female lead in ‘Sapanara Pathe Pathe’. After seeing a video clip sent by her mother, director Susant Mani called her for a screen test in September 2016. She soon found herself in front of camera romancing star kid Amlan. The film, which was supposed to hit theatres during Raja this year, was delayed and later released for Ganesh Puja. However, it didn’t affect her career much as Mani roped her in for ‘Laila O Laila’ opposite Swaraj Barik.
Sarthak Music’s 22nd movie ‘Laila O Laila’ has music scored by Baidyanath Dash and lyrics penned by Nirmal Nayak.
The shooting and dubbing of the film have been completed and Sunmeera is optimistic about audience response to her performance alongside Swaraj. “The two roles I have played so far are very different from each other. My character in ‘Laila O Laila’ is bold and not-so-innocent. I am sure audience will love our onscreen chemistry,” says Sunmeera.
This youngest actor in Ollywood feels age will never be an impediment in her taking up roles if she can understand and play them well. Sunmeera has shot some scenes with a little or no make-up in ‘Laila O Laila’ to give them a realistic feel. She also rehearsed hard to be able to match steps with her co-star for the songs in the film.
All this while, she has never compromised on her studies. Sunmeera will be appearing for Class X board exam this year and she feels lucky to have all the support of her friends, teachers and parents. “I want to excel in my studies as well as films,” she signs off.
