Bhadrak: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)
successfully test-fired its homegrown supersonic Advanced Air Defence
(AAD) interceptor missile from Abdul Kalam Island in Bhadrak district
on Thursday.
The missile was test-fired at 9:50 am, DRDO sources said.
The AAD interceptor is capable of destroying ballistic missiles at an
altitude of 30 km. The missile achieved direct hit and destroyed the
incoming ballistic missile, a modified version of Prithvi-II over Bay
of Bengal, the sources added.
The missile was test-fired earlier in March this year.
