Supply Of Coal To Thermal Power Plants Priority: CIL Chief
Bhubaneswar: Chairman of Coal India Ltd (CIL) Anil Kumar Jha on Thursday said the supply of coal to thermal power plants would be given top priority.
“There is no shortage of coal in the country and under no circumstances, any coal-based thermal plant would be closed,” Jha told media persons here.
He said while coal is stocked for the thermal power plants for 10 days, the duration of the stock would be increased to 22 days.
Stating that as of today the CIL has 45 million metric tonne of coal stock, Jha said shortage of coal in some thermal power plants is due to logistic problems. “While at some places there is coal, there is no railway network for supply. Unless and until coal is transported to the thermal power plant, having coal has got no meaning,” he pointed out. “We are looking for a solution to this problem,” he added.
