Puri: Nine inspectors-in-charge are among 200 policemen infected by COVID-19 in Puri district.
According to Puri SP Akhileshvar Singh, these police personnel posted in 29 police stations under four police divisions have contracted the virus.
Two cops have also died of the infection.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tally in Puri district touched 8652 on Tuesday with an overnight addition of 265 new cases. The district has witnessed a sudden surge in cases this month with over 200 cases almost every day and the biggest spike of 387 on September 9.
While it has a positivity rate of 10.47 per cent, the cured rate stands at 80.45 per cent.
With 38 deaths and 6961, Puri now has 1650 active cases.
