Mumbai: In the latest breakthrough in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, Shruti Modi’s (Sushant’s former manager) lawyer Ashok Rastogi has named the alleged ‘supplier’ Imtiyaz Khatri, the son of a politically connected controversial Mumbai builder as the man behind the whole drug nexus in Bollywood.
Calling him the ‘top-most’ person in the trade, Rastogi said two of his family members were also involved in the irrigation scam and were behind bars. They were granted bail when the present government came to power, he said.
Speaking to Times Now he said that Khatri enjoyed a lot of influence not only in the film industry rubbing shoulders with A-listers but was very well connected politically too, especially with the Sharad Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the various ministries.
Ashok Rastogi told Times Now that it is within the knowledge of the police how these things are being supplied.
In a video of a 2017 party (a clip of which was shown by Times Now), Sushant can be seen being escorted out by Imtiyaz Khatri. Rastogi told Times Now many stars and politicians, particularly MLAs from the Maharashtra Assembly were present at the party.
Asked how he got information on Imtiyaz Khatri, Rastogi said, “I got this information from the video chats that I accessed. Khatri is not named but Sohil Sagar has named these persons.”
“Bandra Police called him for a day but since he has big connections he was allowed to go and no records were made,” said Sarogi adding that the film industry’s close connections with the drug trade is nothing new. He said some people are forced to take drugs due to want of work.
