Mumbai: After the special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act court extended Rhea Chakraborty’s judicial custody till October 6 on Tuesday, the actress approached the Bombay High Court for bail.
According to a NDTV report, Rhea, in her second request for bail, has alleged that actor Sushant Singh Rajput was the only “consumer of drugs”, and she had just procured drugs for him.
As she has only paid for the drugs at some occasions and procured drugs for Sushant sometimes, she has committed a “less serious offence”, claimed Rhea in her bail plea.
“Apart from allegedly coordinating the purchase of drugs and occasionally paying for the said purchase, there is no other allegation, yet the prosecution is terming her alleged acts as ‘financing illicit traffic’. Allegations against her would come within the ambit of “less serious offences”, stated Rhea.
She also alleged that Sushant took advantage of the people who were close to him, including her brother Showik and his house staff for procuring drugs for him.
“Sushant Singh Rajput was the only consumer of drugs and that he was directing his staff members to procure his drugs. It is unfortunate that Sushant Singh Rajput took advantage of those closest to him to sustain his drug habit and thought it fit to expose them to the perils that would entail,” she said.
The Bombay High Court will be hearing Rhea and Showik’s bail petition on Thursday.
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on September 9 for her involvement in a drug nexus and the Narcotics Control Bureau stated that she is “an active member of a drug syndicate”.
