Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Thursday heard the plea of Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters, who had challenged the FIR filed by Rhea Chakraborty, and observed that the late Bollywood actor was a sober, innocent and very good human being.
“From his face, one can make out that he was innocent,” observed Justices SS Shinde and MS Karnik said.
The bench reserved its order and asked both parties to submit written statements, Hindustan Times reported.
Sushant was found hanging in his Bandra residence on June 14 last year. The CBI is investigating the case after Mumbai Police declared it as a case of suicide.
Prime accused Rhea, Sushant’s girlfriend, filed a complaint in September against Sushant’s sisters Priyanka and Meetu, and a Delhi doctor for allegedly getting the actor drugs without a physical consultation.
Sushant’s family lawyer Vikas Singh, appearing for the sisters, observed that the medicines could have been referred to by doctors through telemedicine as per ICMR guidelines.
Rhea’s advocate Satish Maneshinde said she was aware Sushant was under medication, which even led to an argument between the duo, but she didn’t know of the prescription at that time. She came to know about it only after the prescription was leaked on social media.
“My complaint is in relation to a forged prescription of medicines. The circumstances that I am pointing out that should also be examined. His family is concerned with the cause of his death. They say I am responsible, I am giving different circumstances for investigation,” Maneshinde said on behalf of Rhea, who was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau on a drug nexus charge related to the case and got bail after being in jail for a month.
