Bhubaneswar: Well-known story-teller Susmita Bagchi will receive the prestigious ‘Tirataranga Puraskar’ for the year 2019.
The award, instituted by the popular Odia literary magazine and well-known publishing house Tirataranga, will be conferred on Bagchi on its 22nd Foundation Day at Jayadev Bhawan here on March 8.
The event will be graced by the Secretary, Culture, Manoranjan Panigrahi as the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor of Sanskruta Viswavidyalaya, Puri, Dr Radhamadhav Das and litterateur Gourahari Das will be the guest of honour. The function will be presided over by Dr Bijayananda Singh.
For the first time, the Veda Vidwan Samman will be conferred on eminent Vedic scholars Priyabrata Das, Brajabandhu Panda and Prof Bikash Panda this year.
Apart from this, the Tirataranga Samman 2019 will be conferred on Rabi Panda (novel), Dhananjay Swain (lyrics), Bighneswar Sahu (features), Amiya Pandab (editing), Susant Kumar Nayak (poem), journalist Chittaranjan Chiranjit (young novelist) and Sanjay Mishra (patronage for literature).
Besides, two books “Vaidika Bandana” and “Eka Eka Jibana” authored by Brajabandhu Panda and Bandana Mishra respectively will be unveiled at the award-giving ceremony.
