Bhubaneswar: A day after being suspended from BJD for anti-party activities, two-time MLA from Balasore Jiban Pradip Dash resigned from the primary membership of the party on Friday.
Dash was reportedly suspended two days after the bypoll to Balasore Sadar Assembly constituency for remaining absent during campaigning amid rift with district BJD president Rabindra Jena over candidate selection.
He had earlier refuted the ‘anti-party’ allegation. “Though I was unhappy for being denied the ticket, I had extended full support to the party candidate during the campaign,” he had said.
Dash had won the Balasore Sadar seat twice in 2009 and 2014 on BJD ticket. He, however, lost the 2019 assembly election to BJP’s Madan Mohan Dutta, whose death necessitated the bypoll.
