Bhubaneswar: A day after being suspended as the convener of National Students’ Union (NSUI), Itish Pradhan on Monday said that the students’ wing of the Congress will continue its campaign against the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik.
“We will unmask the OPCC president and other leaders who, in connivance with the ruling BJD, have ruined the party. We will hurl eggs at Niranjan wherever he goes,” Pradhan told mediapersons here.
Itish further said he does not accept the suspension order. “The NSUI president is not aware of my suspension. The leader, who has ordered my suspension, has no right to do so. I may have been suspended from the Chhatra Congress, but not from the Congress,” he pointed out.
Itish had earlier accused Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik of having ‘sold the Congress’ with his brother and BJD MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik acting as the mediator.
He also blamed him for ruining the party prospects in Odisha by patronising his family.
Itish had even threatened to not allow the OPCC president to enter Odisha after his return from New Delhi.
Niranjan had dismissed the allegations as ‘childish’ frustration of a loser. “He had contested the Assembly elections and lost it badly. He is now trying to find a scapegoat,” he had told mediapersons here.
AICC leader and Odisha in-charge Jitender Singh had apprised the NSUI president of the incident and asked him to take disciplinary action against Itish.
