Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare Department has reinstated former Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) in-charge of Sundargarh, Dr Pankaj Patel, as senior consultant at the district headquarters hospital in Sambalpur.
Patel was suspended by the government on charges of dereliction of duty during the visit of the secretary to Chief Minister (Transformation and Initiatives), VK Pandian, on October 13.
His suspension drew vehement protests from the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) and civil societies in Sundargarh.
The BJP had also called a 12-hour bandh in Sundargarh to protest the government action against Patel.
