New Delhi: A day after succumbing to an unexpected defeat in the first T20 International against unfancied Zimbabwe, the young Indian team under Shubman Gill gained revenge with a crushing 100-run win in the second match of the series at Harare on Sunday.
Powered by left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma’s maiden international 100 off just 46 balls, India amassed 234/2 at Harare Sports Club.
It was the joint third-fastest T20I century by an Indian batter, after the blazing efforts of Rohit Sharma (35 balls), Suryakumar Yadav (45 balls) and KL Rahul (46 balls).
Zimbabwe, who won Saturday’s series opener by 13 runs, galloped to 40/1 in 3 overs before disintegrating.
Medium-pacers Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar bagged 3 wickets each to bowl out Zimbabwe for 134 in the 19th over.
