Sweet Shop Owner Wins Lottery, Says Helping Injured Mamata Banerjee Proved Lucky

Kolkata: Nimai Maiti’s sweet shop at Berulia Bazar in Nandigram has become a national talking point after Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered fractures in an alleged attack near the spot.

Now, Maiti has won a lottery ticket and believes the good luck is a reward for the help he provided to the injured Mamata. The sweet shop owner, who was an eyewitness to the entire incident in Nandigram on Wednesday, provided the ice that was used as first aid for the CM.

On Friday, Maiti sprung a surprise when he declared that he has a won a lottery of Rs 5,000.

He has now decided not to use the money for a special cause.

“I feel my luck changed after I helped Mamata Banerjee with ice when she was injured. I will use this money to distribute sweets when she wins the elections,” Nimai Maiti told India Today TV.

Notably, Mamata got injured when she was allegedly pushed by unknown miscreants while campaigning for the West Bengal Assembly elections in Nandigram.
