T20 World Cup: Arshdeep Singh Achieves Unique Feat; Check It Out Here

New York: Arshdeep Singh achieved a remarkable feat in the ICC T20 World Cup match against the USA here on Wednesday.

The left-arm pacer became the first Indian bowler to capture a wicket with the first ball of the match when he trapped USA opener Shayan Jahangir leg-before wicket at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

Only four other bowlers have bagged a wicket off the first delivery, including Namibia’s Ruben Trumplemann who did it against Oman earlier in the ongoing tournament. Trumplemann, in fact, is the lone bowler to have dismissed the opposition’s opener off the first ball twice. He did it against Scotland in the 2021 edition.

The other two are former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza (against Afghanistan in 2014) and Afghan Shapoor Zadran (against Hong Kong, 2014).

Arshdeep had a dream outing after Rohit Sharma won the toss in the Group A fixture and opted to bowl first.

The 25-year-old pacer registered outstanding figures of 4/9 in his 4 overs, a career-best effort in T20 Internationals, as India restricted USA to 110/8 in 20 overs.
