New York: Team India opened their T20 World cup campaign with a powerful bowling performance at the newly constructed Nassau County Stadium here on Wednesday.

The Indian pacers found conditions to their liking after skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first.

There was swing on offer in slightly overcast conditions and the pitch offered some bounce as well.

Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh (2/35) set the ball rolling with two wickets in his second over.

Hardik Pandya (3/27), Jasprit Bumrah (2/6) and Mohammad Siraj (1/13) had their rewards too as Ireland slipped to 50/8.

Garet Delany (26 off 14 balls) struck 2 fours and 2 sixes, and Josh Little chipped in with 14 to take Ireland within striking distance of a three-figure total.
