T20I At Barabati: OCA To Take Up Spectators’ Participation With Odisha Govt
Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has geared up for the first India-West Indies T20I cricket match to be played at Barabati Stadium here after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the fixtures and venues on Monday.
Speaking to media persons, OCA secretary Sanjay Behera said the renovation work of the stadium has been completed and the pitch, which is still under preparation, will be ready for the match scheduled on February 15, 2022.
On the restrictions on the spectators in the galleries in the stadium due to COVID pandemic, Behera said they will hold discussion with the Sports department, Special Relief Commissioner and other high officials in this regard.
Since the T20 match between India and South Africa on October 5, 2015 was affected due to disturbances by the spectators, the OCA has to take extra precautions in this regard, he added.
Behera further said the OCA has drawn up a blue print to host a match of the IPL 2022 after four cities in the country including Cuttack were selected for the tournament.
