Berhampur: A man allegedly committed suicide in Golanthara police station where he was taken for an inquiry on Monday. He has been identified as Ganesh Dakua of Rangipur village.
According to sources, on Monday night Dakua was taken to the police station and made to sit in the reception counter of Woman and Children Help Desk inside the PS as per the isolation protocol of COVID-19 appropriate management.
At about 8 pm, Ganesh reportedly hanged himself with his waist belt from the window grill of the reception counter. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Dr Karunakar Pradhan, Medical Officer Casualty, MKCG an UD case number 225 date 3-5-21 was registered in B N Pur Police Station.
Dakua’s body was handed over to his family members after the post-mortem on May 4 morning.
DSP Headquarters PC Jena has been entrusted to inquire into the case.
According to police, Ganesh was brought to the PS following a complaint over phone by some locals of Rangipur who informed that Dakua was creating ruckus in the area.
