Berhampur: People gathered in large numbers on Banpur overbridge on National Highway 16 to collect petrol after a tanker overturned and fell on a divider.
According to reports, the tanker was on its way to Chhatrapur from Paradip when it overturned after hitting against a divider. The petrol tanker locks opened under the impact of the fall and the fuel spilt on the NH, fuelling apprehensions of it catching fire anytime.
Taking advantage of the situation, people passing through the road and locals started collecting petrol in containers, including buckets.
Till reports last came in, police and firefighters reached the spot and brought the situation under control by streamlining the crowd.
