Tapoban High School & Kuntala Kumari Sabat Hostel In Odisha Capital Spruced Up For President Murmu’s Visit

Bhubaneswar: Tapoban High School, a residential institute for tribal students and Kuntala Kumari Sabat Adivasi Girl’s Hostel in Odisha capital have been spruced up to accord a warm welcome to President Droupadi Murmu on Friday.

Elaborate arrangements have been made at both the places where students and teachers are eagerly waiting for the visit of Murmu during her first tour of the state after assuming the office of the President in July this year.

The authorities of Tapoban High school located near Khandagiri said they feel privileged and honoured that Murmu chose their school to visit during her first and maiden trip to her home state after becoming the President.

The school has been refurbished, spruced up and decorated keeping in mind the   culture and tradition of Odisha, said a school teacher.

A new look has been given to the entire campus – the pathways, gardens, classrooms, walls, school furniture for the visit of the President, who is scheduled to interact with students.

Fifteen alumni, who hail from Murmu’s home district of Mayurbhanj, have also been invited on the occasion, said another teacher, adding that students will draw motivation from after they meet and interact with her.

The President will be presented a painting specially created by the students. All the students and staff of the school have undergone Covid test ahead of Murmu’s visit, sources said.

Similar activities are seen in Kuntala Kumari Sabat Adivasi Girl’s Hostel on the campus of Unit-2 Girl’s High School where hectic preparations are on for her visit. The President would also interact with students, teachers and alumni of Unit-2 Government Girl’s High School, her alma mater.

According to sources, Murmu go round a new building housing smart classrooms, an e-library and an e-laboratory. Walls of the school building have been given a fresh coat of colour and decorated with paintings, while students are preparing for cultural programmes and their interaction with the President.

A large photograph of Murmu now adorns the room number 3 in Kuntala Kumari Sabat hostel, where she stayed during her student days, sources said, adding that hostel inmates are creating a large sand art to welcome Murmu.

The President is also slated to interact with her fellow alumni members during her visit, sources added.
