Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to shut the Tata COVID Hospital at Sitalapalli in Ganjam district.
Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange in a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of Hi-tech Medical College and Hospital said the bed occupancy in the hospital is very less following a drastic fall in new COVID-19 infections in the district. “In this context, it has been decided to close Tata COVID Hospital from 30/11/2020,” he wrote.
The hospital has been asked not to admit any new patient.
Ganjam currently has 96 active cases. There has been a marked reduction in the daily caseload since October. Only seven new cases were detected on November 7 while the last 24 hours saw 25 more people testing positive for the virus.
Earlier, the government had closed the COVID facility being run from Sambalpur Sadar Hospital.
