Tata DAV Public School Gets ‘Green Trophy’ For Environmental Stewardship

Joda: Tata DAV Public School at Joda was awarded for environmental stewardship on Thursday at Jamshedpur as part of World Environment Day celebration.

 The ‘Green Trophy’ was given to the school as part of the first phase of ‘The Green School Project’, which was launched last year by Tata Steel in its operational areas in association with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The trophy was received by Tata DAV Public School from Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General, TERI in the presence of Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Safety,Health& Sustainability), Tata Steel.

Aimed at creating awareness and understanding about environment issues in school campuses in the operational areas of Tata Steel, TERI has been actively promoting environment awareness through classroom teaching and outdoor activities.

The other awards received by schools include ‘Honorable Mention Award’ by Residential Bridge Course, Joda, ‘Community Intervention Award’ by Stewart School, Sukinda and Feeder Model School, Nadiabhanga and ‘Appreciation for Participation Award’ by Tata DAV Public School at Noamundi and Jamadoba.

With the completion of the first phase of ‘The Green School Project’, Tata Steel recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TERI for the second phase of Green School project in Jharkhand and Odisha.
