The much-awaited Tata Nexon Electric is likely to be launched on January 28. Now, the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has certified a full charge range of 312 km for the Nexon EV.
Tata had earlier announced that the Nexon will have a range of at least 300 km. Tata has revealed more details about its first long-range electric car. The urban SUV will do 0-60kph and 0-100kph sprints in 4.6sec and 9.9sec respectively.
Tata also claims a 50:50 front-rear weight distribution, which may account for good handling.
Going with the times, the SUV will come with connected tech using Tata’s ZConnect app that will have options such as show charge levels, available range, pre-cool the car, remote lock and unlock, lamp control and horn activation. Location-tracking services along with remote immobilization feature will also be available.
The Nexon EV will come in three trim levels – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX. It will have two drive modes – Drive and Sports. Features include a sunroof, leatherette seats, auto wipers & headlights, 7 inch touchscreen with reverse camera.
There’s a 8-year/1,60,000km warranty on the Nexon EV’s battery and motor. The 30.2 kWh Lithium battery pack is AIS 048-compliant, which means it complies with safety tests concerning nail penetration, crushing, fire, overcharge, shock and short.
The EV’s motor produces 95kW (129hp) and 245Nm of torque, significantly higher than its petrol and diesel counterparts. The battery is fast charge compatible which recharges from 0-80 per cent in just an hour. Using a standard 15 amp charger, it will take 8 hours.
The Nexon EV is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 17 lakh.
