Tata Motors is expected to launch the electric version of Nexon soon. It will be India’s cheapest electric SUV. It will be launched on December 16.
Tata is reportedly extensively testing the Nexon EV at various terrains and altitudes. This will be the first Tata EV with Ziptron powertrain, which uses a permanent magnet AC motor and has a IP67 rated water and dust resistant battery pack that will be backed with an 8-year warranty.
The Nexon EV is expected to feature a real-world range of 300km.
Tata currently has 85 chargers across 13 cities and is expanding its network.
The Nexon EV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
Currently, the only other long-range electric car available in the market is Hyundai Kona, which has a ARAI rated range of 451km. It is priced at Rs 22.5 lakh ex-showroom. Morris Garages (MG) is going to launch a similar EV – ZS electric car soon.
