New Delhi: The Central government has received multiple bids for acquiring national carrier Air India.
Among the bidders for the airline is Tata Sons, a spokesperson informed PTI.
The deadline for final bids is September 15.
SpiceJet promoter Ajay Singh has also reportedly put in a bid, albeit in a personal capacity.
“Financial bids for Air India disinvestment received by Transaction Adviser. Process now moves to concluding stage,” Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey tweeted on Wednesday.
The Central government has decided to sell 100 per cent stake in the state-owned national airline, including Air India’s 100 per cent shareholding in AI Express Ltd and 50 per cent in Air India SATS Airport Services Private Ltd.
The sale process started in January 2020, but faced numerous delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government invited final bids from potential bidders in April 2021.
