Tata Sons Chief Chandrasekaran Named Chairman Of Air India
Mumbai: Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran was on Monday appointed as chairman of Air India.
A Tata Group veteran, Chandrasekaran was reappointed chairman of Tata Sons for a second term of five years last month. He had served as MD and CEO of Tata Consultancy Services before being named chairman of Tata Sons in 2017.
Tata Group had earlier named former Turkish Airlines chairman Ilker Ayci as CEO and MD of Air India. But he declined the offer after Swadeshi Jagran Manch – believed to be linked to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh – asked the Central government to block Ilker’s appointment over national security concerns.
