Tata Steel BSL’s Drive Against Dengue & Malaria In 2 Odisha Dists
Dhenkanal: A 3-month drive against dengue and malaria launched by the Tata Steel BSL will benefit around 33,000 villagers in two districts of the state.
The drive, which will cover 25 villages of Dhekanal and Angul districts, includes fogging, anti-larval spray and building awareness on symptoms, causes and treatment of vector borne diseases like dengue and malaria among the villagers.
The peripheral villages around the plant of Tata Steel BSL, located at Narendrapur in Dhenkanal district, are dengue and malaria prone areas and with the onset of rainy season, the risk of the diseases goes up. To address this issue, Tata Steel BSL as part of its CSR health programme has been undertaking this drive for the community for the last 3 years.
The programme was launched by Nuagaon sarapanch Chakradhar Parida in presence of Renuka Singh, Senior Manager, CSR, Tata Steel BSL and villagers at Raghunathpur village, according to a release.
As part of its health-care initiatives, a 100-bed COVID hospital with 10-bed ICU facility developed by the steel major at Kharagprasad in Dhenkanal was dedicated to the community last month.
