Sukinda: Tata Steel Foundation dedicated a public toilet at Duburi and two library blocks in Sukinda College and Bharati Vihar Degree Mahavidyalaya, Haripur, in Odisha’s Jajpur district, as part of its commitment towards community development.
Minister of Rural Development, Skill Development & Technical Education Er Pritiranjan Gharai inaugurated the facilities on Thursday in the presence of Sukinda block chairman Divya Ranjan Barala, vice-chairman Bhagyalaxmi Rout, Sukinda zilla parishad, zone 9 Pratap Pattnaik, Sukindagarh chairman Swadhin Dash, zilla parishad zone 37 Sadhu Charan Tiu, Sansailo sarpanch Manmohan Banara, TSF Unit head Allen Joseph and other members from the community.
The public toilet constructed by TSF has separate sections for men, women and also separate toilets for male and female persons with disability.
The public toilet has a water automated teller machine (ATM) that will dispense normal and cold water to commuters passing by, while the ladies’ toilet also has a sanitary pad dispensing unit.
The toilet will be maintained by ‘Duburi Chamber of Commerce’.
The fully-furnished libraries constructed by TSF at Sukinda College and Bharati Vihar Degree Mahavidyalaya, Haripur, aim to improve the learning levels of students.
The library at Sukinda College will cater to around 1,400 students pursuing Arts, Science and Commerce, while the library at Bharati Vihar Degree Mahavidyalaya will benefit over 1,200 students pursuing intermediate courses in Science and Arts, and graduation in Arts stream.
Tata Steel Foundation has been actively involved in the development of community infrastructure in the region for people residing in and around Kalinganagar.
