Jajpur Road (Odisha): Male students of Vyasanagar Autonomous College in Odisha’s Jajpur Road received a boost as Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) dedicated a newly-renovated recreational building to them.

The renovated 4,500 square feet facility is part of TSF’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and promoting holistic development in the region.

“Investing in our students is investing in the future of Odisha. I am delighted to see this outstanding recreational facility, which transforms an underutilised space into a vibrant hub for student wellness. I appreciate the efforts of Tata Steel Foundation for this support in enhancing the educational infrastructure and promoting the holistic development of the students,” Korei MLA Akash Dasnayak said after inaugurating the facility.

Among others present on the occasion were Sapan Kumar Nanda, OAS (S) ADM, President, VN College; Dr Sarat Kumar Mallik, Principal, Vyasanagar Autonomous College; Debanjan Mukherjee, Head, Kalinganagar Impact cluster, Tata Steel Foundation.

The facility, which was originally part of the indoor stadium complex built in 2012 but remained underutilised due to incomplete interiors, now serves as a fully functional hub for student activities and wellness.

Mukherjee said the facility serves a dual purpose. “It not only provides a much-needed, high-quality recreational space for the students but also integrates sustainable infrastructure. The addition of the rooftop rainwater harvesting system underscores our commitment to creating long-term value, supporting both student well-being and local environmental initiatives like groundwater recharge.”

The transformed facility features modernised amenities like completely renovated common halls for recreation and engagement, upgraded changing rooms and toilets, and waterproofed roofing to ensure structural longevity.

TSF also integrated a crucial element of sustainable infrastructure, adding roof top rainwater harvesting provisions, specifically designed to support local groundwater recharge initiatives.
