Tata Teleservices’ consumer mobile business is merging with Airtel and the Department of Telecom is reportedly issuing an approval letter for the same.
After the deal is approved, Airtel will get an additional 178.5 MHz spectrum in three crucial bands of 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 850 MHz. This range is used in 4G network.
According to the agreement earlier in October 2017, Airtel was supposed to take over Tata’s mobile operations in 19 circles, and also a small portion of the unpaid spectrum liability of Tata Teleservices.
