Teachers State Protest Against Irregularities In OTET Results In Cuttack
Cuttack: Hundreds of teachers continued to stage demonstration in front of the office of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha’s Cuttack city in protest against alleged irregularities in the results of Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET).
According to the protesting teachers, the BSE had announced the results of the special OTET, conducted by it on August 29 last year, on January 9. The Board again announced revised results next day.
But in the revised results, the candidates who had failed in the first announcement were declared passed while those, who had passed with good percentage of marks, were shown as failed, they alleged. They demanded that the Board should ensure fair assessment in the Test and give grace marks to them for their experience.
The teachers coming from different parts of the state said though they have appeared at OTET several times, they have not qualified. The government should take our teaching experience into account and help them qualify in the test with grace marks. But the Board authorities have turned down their demand stating that they cannot do it without permission or order of the government.
Considering the tough stand of the BSE, the teachers have decided to continue their 3-day agitation and if it fails to yield any results, they threatened to move the court.
