Mumbai: Star footballer Sunil Chhetri has tested positive for COVID-19 and is likely to miss India’s international ties against Oman and the UAE on March 25 and 29, respectively.
Chhetri, India’s most successful footballer of recent times and captain of the national team, announced the news on Twitter and said he was feeling fine.
In a not-so-happy update, I’ve tested positive for COVID-19. In better news, I feel fine as I continue my recovery from the virus and should be back on a football pitch soon. No better time to keep reminding everyone to continue taking all the safety precautions always.

Chhetri recently played for Bengaluru FC in the ISL in a bio-secure bubble in Goa. His last game was on February 25, when he scored a goal but his team failed to make the semifinals after finishing seventh in the league stage.
