Ahmedabad: They won theT20I series 4-1. And in the ODI series, Team India didn’t put a foot wrong as they blanked England 3-0.
Asked to bat first for a change, after England captain Jos Buttler won the toss yet again in the third and final ODI on Wednesday, India put up an imposing 356 on the board, thanks to Shubman Gill’s classy 112.
Then, another familiar story unfolded as England got off to a flier – 60 in 6 overs – only to disintegrate in the face of some steady bowling to be bowled out for 214. India thus won by a whopping 142 runs.
As many as five England batters got starts but none reached 40, as all six Indian bowlers got among the wickets.
With all the batters among runs, and India finding the right balance with six bowling options, Rohit Sharma’s men in blue will go into the Champions Trophy in a good frame of mind.
Having refused to travel to Pakistan, who are hosting the tournament, India will be playing all their matches in Dubai.
India have been placed in Group A, alongside Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh.
India will open their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh, then they face Pakistan on February 23 and New Zealand on March 2.
