Sonepur: The Vigilance sleuths arrested Tarabha Tehsildar Subrat Behera in Odisha’s Sonepur district on Monday.
He was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 20,000 bribe for land registration at his official residence.
According to sources, the trap was laid on the basis of a complaint filed by one Kanhu Charan Das from Ghatakaintara village under Tarabha block. The complainant had sold his land in Antarda mouza to one Rabindra Mishra, a resident of Tulunda. The Tehsildar was demanding bribe from him for land registration.
After his arrest, Behera was taken to Sonepur, the sources added.
