Temp May Rise In Odisha By 2-3°C In 24 Hours; Thunderstorm Alert For 4 Dists

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is bracing for warmer days in March amid intermittent yellow warning for thunderstorm and gusty wind for some districts.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph) may occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and Sundargarh till 8.30 am on Friday. Similar warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak districts on March 15 and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur on March 16.

 lightning and winds at 30-40 kms per hour at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and Sundergarh on Friday. While the weather is expected to remain dry for the 2 days after that, the yellow warning has been issued for the districts Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak on March 16.



The weather agency has further predicted a rise in the day temperature by 2-3°C during the next 24 hours, when the mercury is expected to touch 40°C.

In the last 24 hours, Jharsuguda was the hottest place in the state at 39°C, followed by Titlagarh (Balangir) at 38.4°C, Sundargarh, Kirei (Sundargarh), Talcher (Angul) and Nuapada at 38°C each, Dhenkanal 37.9°C, Bhawanipatna (Kalahandi) at 37.5°C, Hirakud (Sambalpur) at 37.4°C and Sonepur at 37°C.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 35°C and 34.4°C respectively.

Very light rainfall also occurred at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Bhadrak. Dense fog reduced visibility in Dhenkanal early this morning while moderate fog was seen in Bhubaneswar.
