Tension Erupts At MKCG Over Infant’s Death; Docs Attack Grandfather

Berhampur: Tension ran high at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here on Thursday over death of a newborn during treatment.

According to sources, Janani Mohanty of Saradhapur village under Hinjilikut block in Ganjam district delivered a baby this morning. However, the infant died a few moments later.

Irked over this, the family members of the woman created a ruckus at the hospital and got into a heated argument with the doctors and staff, alleging medical negligence.

The situation took an ugly turn when an elderly member of the family was allegedly attacked by the authorities of the healthcare institution.

Receiving information regarding the incident, police rushed to the spot and managed to pacify the agitators with an assurance to conduct an inquiry and initiate action accordingly.
